In March, Crain’s New York reported that Donald Trump has, for the past three years, received a tax credit intended for New York City families who have an income under $500,000. Both the city and the Trump campaign agreed that a mistake had been made, although nobody could explain what had actually happened. In any case, whatever the mistake was, it hasn’t yet been rectified, because Trump’s most recent property tax bill shows that he’s still receiving the $304 credit.

This morning, BuzzFeed announced it has killed a deal with the Republican National Committee to run ads across the website throughout this election season. In an email to staff, BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti said that the company decided to end the agreement because Donald Trump is simply too offensive:

Last week, photographer Jimi Giannatti attended a Trump rally in San Diego, where protestors converged to denounce in particular the candidate’s deeply racist anti-Mexican stance. Trump’s supporters were ready for them, and armed with pepper spray.

Here’s what happened: last night, Vox writer Emmett Rensin tweeted, “Advice: if Trump comes to your town, start a riot.” Today, Vox suspended him. This is the funniest fucking media uproar in at least a week or two.

On Thursday, before supporters and demonstrators clashed outside the San Jose Convention Center, a Donald Trump campaign staffer had a Politico reporter ejected from the event for reporting without the campaign’s permission.

One of the difficulties the mainstream press has faced in covering the Donald Trump campaign is that Trump is a ceaseless and aggressive liar. The traditional etiquette standards known as “objective journalism” discourage media outlets from pointing out that a politician’s message is contrary to known facts—to do so seems like taking sides, or, God forbid, expressing an opinion.

Yesterday the New York Times reported that Ruth Guerra, the head of Hispanic relations for the Republican National Committee, would be leaving her position for reasons rumored to rhyme with Donald Trump. Taking her place is Helen Aguirre Ferre, a former journalist whose first act of business is scrubbing all the things she’s said about Trump on Twitter—none of which appear to be positive.
