Jon Stewart: Obamacare Brought a Provision to a Principle Fight

Matt Toder · 03/29/12 10:24PM

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a look at the Supreme Court battle over Obamacare, specifically the way the two sides don't seem to having the same argument. Instead, the Obamacare supporters are talking about the specifics of how health care works in this country while the opposition is talking in platitudes about freedom. Is there any wonder which side lost?

When Dick Slips In: A Brief History of PG-Rated Penis

Rich Juzwiak · 03/29/12 06:05PM

As a companion to our earlier post about the sanitization of film through the PG-13 rating, here are a few examples of when things swung the other way. (It is namely dicks that are swinging.) Though the penis's on-screen presence virtually guarantees an R-rating today, we found a few examples of fully naked guys on PG-rated film. All of these instances date back before the introduction of the PG-13 rating in 1984, though that rating turned out to be even less permissive regarding penis (Cider House Rules contains the rare PG-13 dong flash).

Crazed Sheriff Joe Arpaio Cracks Down on Dog Sex in Arizona

Leah Beckmann · 03/29/12 03:21PM

Arizona couple Shane and Sarah Walker were arrested for trying to fuck a dog. Their first mistake, it seems, was all in the Craigslist ad they posted: "Wife looking for K9." Sure it's simple and it's concise, but posted in the personal ads, it doesn't leave a whole lot of mystery. Mystery, say, in case an undercover animal crimes detective is prowling the site looking for just such a couple to take down in a sting, all To Catch a Predator style.

Post Prick Pals With Primo Prostitute Chick

John Cook · 03/29/12 02:59PM

Well, well, well. It turns out that the Col Allan, the New York Post's penis-rubbing, stripper-loving editor-in-chief, enjoys a very chummy relationship with Anna Gristina, the alleged Manhattan Madam whose recent arrest is spreading panic amongst her reportedly A-list client list. And in a stunning instance of New York news omerta, Allan's archrival the New York Daily News knew all about the relationship but sat on it for weeks.

White Supremacist Hacks Trayvon Martin's Email Account, Leaks Messages Online

Adrian Chen · 03/29/12 02:44PM

The racist smear campaign against Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teen shot to death last month in Florida, has reached a new level of ghoulishness. A white supremacist hacker says he's broken into Martin's email and social networking accounts, and leaked his private Facebook messages. We've been able to confirm that at least one email account that belonged to Martin was cracked.

Here's Video of Nine Inch Nails Performing on Dance Party USA 22 Years Ago

Rich Juzwiak · 03/29/12 02:16PM

As a Dance Party USA enthusiast, I'd be remiss if I didn't share this 1989 video of a Pretty Hate Machine-era Nine Inch Nails performing on the Philly-based teen dance show that the internet's freaking out about. It's funny that the man who'd soon go on to proclaim, "I want to fuck you like an animal" is performing for a not-yet-legal crowd, although this particular track is pretty tame and synth-poppy. When it came to corrupting young minds, they had much work ahead of them.

You Are Not Going to Win the Lottery, You Fool

Hamilton Nolan · 03/29/12 12:45PM

The Mega Millions jackpot is half a billion dollars. A cool half-billion. You could use that money, eh? Buy your castle and everything. Have you bought your Mega Millions ticket yet? Well, don't.

Is This Baby Hippo Cute, Or Does It Look Like a Poop Cake?

Leah Beckmann · 03/29/12 11:40AM

To me, this South African baby pygmy hippo looks like a talented cake-maker molded a heaping pile of feces into the shape of a hippo for a hippo-themed birthday party. But that's just one opinion among a sea of opinions floating out there in the cosmos.

That's Beetle Juice in Your Vegan Frappuccino

Leah Beckmann · 03/29/12 10:44AM

Soy Strawberry Frappuccinos, already one of the most unpleasant Starbucks drinks I could think to order, have been using something called cochineal extract to dye the drinks that murky Pepto Bismol Pink. Cochineal extract, it turns out, is made from South American beetles and was adopted in an effort to stop using artificial ingredients. But the vegan community will not have it; they have, of course, started an insufferable petition demanding that Starbucks stop using the dye.

Are You Spending Enough Money on Beauty Products for Your Ugly Baby?

Hamilton Nolan · 03/29/12 10:08AM

Your baby: it has some issues. Let's be real. Its baby skin is... not so perfect. Nothing you'd want to be seen in public with. Your baby's beauty reflects on you. The good news: your baby's hideousness is nothing that hundreds of dollars worth of beauty products can't temporarily fix.
