Since it's 2011 and George W. Bush is history, now's a good time to issue detailed reports charging the Bush White House with repeatedly and deliberately violating federal laws against politicking with government resources. Memories!

The Office of Special Counsel, a bizarre and toothless federal agency charged with enforcing the Hatch Act, which bars federal workers from engaging in political activity, has released a 112-page report accusing the Bush Administration of routinely organizing political strategy briefings for federal workers and using taxpayer dollars to jet political appointees to GOP rallies.

The report, which was based on interviews with 80 Bush officials and more than 100,000 pages of documents, found that "10 agencies used federal funds to pay for political appointees to travel to events supporting Republican candidates in 2006 in an operation monitored closely by the White House Office of Political Affairs." It also found that, in the lead-up to the 2006 elections, the Office of Political Affairs forced federal workers to attend political briefings and took attendance to make sure they showed up: "An invitation to political appointees at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) read: 'This meeting is mandatory. It will essentially be the same large meeting that we had last year about this time. So, please clear your schedule, put your pom-poms on, and let's go!!!'"

Good thing that justice will finally be brought to these feckless creeps who turned our government into a crass political machine. The punishment for violations of the Hatch Act is termination. So fuck you, Karl Rove! You're fired!
