On Monday, Donald Trump claimed to have watched people jump to their deaths from the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001: “Many people jumped and I witnessed it, I watched that. I have a view—a view in my apartment that was specifically aimed at the World Trade Center.”

According to CNN, at least 200 people are believed to have jumped from the burning towers rather than die inside.

“I watched those people jump and I watched the second plane hit,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Columbus, Ohio. “I saw the second plane hit the building and I said, ‘Wow that’s unbelievable.’”

Trump has lived in Midtown Manhattan, on 5th Avenue, in the Trump Tower penthouse, since at least 1999. Trump Tower is just over four miles away from the World Trade Center.
