Teachers Ban Students from Quoting Geico Hump Day Commercial
Kids today with their flesh-eating drugs and their butt-chugging wine and their...incessant quoting of a Geico commercial featuring a talking camel who loves Wednesdays?
Teachers at Vernon Center Middle School in Vernon, Connecticut, have apparently had it up to here with students disrupting class with quotes from the popular car insurance commercial.
"Everybody's walking around in the hallways and saying its hump day in that weird voice," student Brooke Lewis told WFSB, adding that the commercial referencing isn't limited to Wednesdays. "Sometimes its the counting down to when it is," she said.
According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mary P. Conway, the problem students are mostly sixth graders, but several teachers have come forward to complain about the havoc being wreaked by the Geico Hump Day commercial.
Some teachers have outright banned quoting the commercial in their classroom, which in turn has led to some students being called to the principals office for violating the ban.
It remains unclear if they were made to watch a bunch of Progressive Insurance ads as punishment.
"OK, that's getting out of hand," parent Mick Ruggiero told Eyewitness News 3. "Just keep it to Wednesdays and we'll be all right."
