Adam Weinstein · 05/05/14 10:11AM

There's only one Republican candidate running for Senate in Iowa who has Sarah Palin's endorsement, and also loves to cut the testicles off of squealing pigs with her own two hands. But that doesn't seem like enough for you America, so fine, here she is shooting stuff and wearing chaps.

The pig-castrating lady who wants to be Iowa's next U.S. senator says she missed 117 votes in the state Legislature because she was on duty as a National Guard officer. Except a local paper notes that's impossible. "I don't know what the actual count is," she says. Guard weekends are kinda like hog nuts that way.

From experience, I know having a suggestive adjective as a first name can lead to a lot of teasing, but at least I’m not Conor P. Fudge, the man accused of stealing ice cream and cakes from a Cold Stone Creamery store in Iowa City, Iowa. 25-year-old Fudge will never live down the fact that he was caught on camera stealing all sorts of ice cream, cakes, cash, and hopefully some mix-ins (the good mix-ins, not the gummy bears that freeze the second they hit the ice cream) from his former employer.

Dog Bites Woman, Man Bites Dog

Max Rivlin-Nadler · 05/04/13 01:04PM

A woman in Iowa is recovering from injuries sustained by a dog attack, but it could have been much worse — if her husband didn't bite back.

When you think "The Montezuma (Iowa) Record," you think "just good journalism, as befitting the town that is home to Iowa's best competition motocross race track, Fun Valley Motocross." I'm sad, and chuckling, to tell you that you may be disappointed in the Record's latest effort, however. (Unless you are racist).

Who's Sending Out Fake Lesbian Wedding Announcements to Small Papers?

Camille Dodero · 02/15/13 01:14PM

The only unusual aspect of the Collins-Johns engagement announcement that ran in yesterday's Le Mars Daily Sentinel was that the Iowan news concerned a same-sex marriage: Le Mars' own Candace Leigh Collins was set to marry Maria Ava Johns, a young woman she'd met as an undergraduate of Texas State University, this coming May in the progressive state of Massachusetts.
