Fashion Week: Anna Sui

Emily Gould · 02/08/07 12:50PM

Hello, world, it's your wild girl! And we're glad to see she's back in black hair (the platinum thing made us sometimes confuse her with Annie Lennox). Gawker photographer Nikola Tamindzic snapped the lovelies at Anna Sui this morning, including rumored lesbian lovers Joan Jett (pictured) and Carmen Electra (pictures down there someplace). And hey, Anna Sui clothes are looking good! If you'd like to see more, Nikola's full gallery is here.

Fashion Week: Vivienne Tam

Emily Gould · 02/08/07 11:50AM

This morning while you were staring at the TPS reports on your desk and regretting that egg and cheese sandwich, Gawker photographer Nikola Tamindzic was flitting about the tents of Bryant Park, snapping the classypants cheongsams at Vivienne Tam. If this isn't sufficient Tamminess for you, you know where to find more.

Fashion Week: Michael Kors

Emily Gould · 02/07/07 05:00PM

Ahh, Michael Kors. Who doesn't love fashion's tallest oompa loompa? So memorably bitchy on Proj. Run, so unmemorable when it comes to his tasteful brown garments. Still, we dispatched Gawker photographer (we're not going to be cute about it again, the man is just a photographer, damn it) Nikola Tamindzic to document Kors's Fall collection, and he came back with the shot above, among others. Isn't it pretty much the best thing you've ever seen in your entire life? Not only does it articulate exactly where the models are supposed to walk (up the runway and then back, with a pause at the end — really??), it instructs them in a Dee-licious Dichotomy! They are Young Gorgeous and have Bank Accounts around the World! We understand the stiff, pained smiles so many of them sported on the runway so much better now. Anyway, Donald and Melania and Raisin Face Zoe, among others, seemed to enjoy it. Nikola's full gallery can be found here.

Fashion Week: Fur Hunting At The Diesel Denim Gallery Opening

Emily Gould · 02/07/07 01:40PM

Editorial Assistant Heather and picture-taker Kate headed over to the Diesel Denim gallery opening for Ellen Depoorter's show Cornucopia last night to see if they could find anyone wearing a trapper hat. And boy oh boy, did they ever! Their trapper hat cup runneth over! It was a virtual . . . something . . . of trapper hats. The scant few party pix that do not contain pictures of people who ostensibly trade pelts for wampum for a living are here.

Fashion Week: Heatherette

Emily Gould · 02/07/07 12:10PM

Gawker shutterperson Nikola Tamindzic followed the yellow brick road to Heatherette's Wizard of Oz themed show, which starred Lydia Hearst as Dorothy and Amanda Lepore as Glinda the Good Witch. You read that right: Wizard of Oz themed. "We just need to figure out a way to gay it up a bit. But HOW?" we imagine Richie Rich brainstorming. Anyway, Neel Shah was there, which pretty much says it all. If this is somehow still not enough for you, Nikola's got your gay gay gay ass covered with more here.

Fashion Week: Chaiken

Emily Gould · 02/06/07 05:20PM

Just what you've been waiting for: more pretty clothes and pretty people! Gawker lenscraftsman Nikola Tamindzic stuck his camera into the tents at Chaiken today. Don Trump Jr. and pregs wife Vanessa were in attendance, and in Trumpily good spirits. And Cynthia Nixon was there, looking like an ethereal elfin goddess of wholesome lesbiosity. Also, there were socialites. (At a fashion show! Imagine!) Make sure you study each one carefully.

Fashion Week: Bill Blass

Emily Gould · 02/06/07 04:00PM

Bet you thought we forgot all about Fashion Week, right? NOT A CHANCE. This morning at the tents, Gawker picture-taker Nikola Tamindzic snapped the Barbara Bush-approved line that's so matronly that not even Jessica Stam can make it look hot. Wait . . oh, she can. Oh, that Jessica Stam! Like an adorable Persian cat in person form, we feel. Loves it. And so, no doubt, did Cece Cord, Joan Rivers, and Dr. Ruth.

Coming Soon on Leigh Lezark

Doree Shafrir · 02/06/07 01:00PM

Setting aside, for the moment, the fact that NYM's personalizable fashion albums are a blatant ripoff of Style.com's Lookbooks, we took careful note of Leigh Lezark's selections from Fashion Week so far. Likes: bow ties, funny hats, minidresses, red ... But we're most intrigued by a look by Alexandre Herchovitch that Princess Coldstare selected as one of her faves. It's got a certain je ne sais quoi that we think will look just lovely behind the Misshapes DJ booth.

Fabiola Beracasa Loves BCBG, Derek Blasberg, Exclamation Points

Doree Shafrir · 02/05/07 04:50PM

We are so excited that New York magazine picked Fabiola Beracasa as one of their extra-special celebrity bloggers for Fashion Week! She is so knowledgeable about fashion! And she knows everyone!!!!! Let's take a peek at her first entry:

Fashion Week in Second Life

Chris Mohney · 02/05/07 03:40PM

If there's one thing New York's Fashion Week is known for, it's confronting attendees with stark, hard-hitting realities in sharp contrast to the escapist fantasy available elsewhere in our culture. Fortunately, anyone who feels that runway shows hit a little too close to home can experience another degree of separation in Second Life. Tonight at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 p.m. Eastern, you can attend a virtual fashion show for three Second Life "clothing designers," as well as the artisan who created the bot-forms wearing the clothes. (It's like if the real Fashion Week more overtly celebrated the work of fine plastic surgeons.) If you can't "get in" to the show in Second Life, you can still spectate from afar. Please, if anyone attends this thing and there's another flying penis attack, by all means send us the screenshots.

Fashion Week: Backstage At Diane Von Furstenberg

Emily Gould · 02/05/07 03:10PM

Looks like we made it — backstage, that is. Gawker camera-club president Nikola Tamindzic slinked lithely past the velvet ropes and into the hearts of Americans. Americans who were waiting for pix of Anderson Cooper getting yelled at, to be precise. But wait, there's more! Eva Amurri and Susan Sarandon on booby patrol! Ellen Barkin looking more like a cat that just woke up than ever! Phillip Bloch! CHARLIE ROSE! Stop sitting there quivering with joy and just click. And if you're craving even more, Nikola's extended gallery is right here.

Fashion Week: Misshapes @ Don Hill's

abalk2 · 02/05/07 02:30PM

For the third and final stop on the Saturday night fashion week party circuit, we were posed with the challenge of infiltrating the largely underage hipsterfest otherwise known as Misshapes at Don Hill's. Such an operation seemed daunting at first thought, but we were in so quickly that we couldn't wait to leave. (read: Editorial Assistant Heather spent more time hailing a cab outside than she did in the building itself, leaving Gawker snaparazzo Nikola Tamindzic to fly solo.) Enjoy our Misshapes album and Nikola's longer gallery here.

Fashion Week: Rock & Republic Afterparty @ Hiro Ballroom

abalk2 · 02/05/07 12:50PM

If we learned anything on Saturday night, it's that wearing four-inch heels induces its own version of vertigo — meaning you still feel like you're wearing them forty-eight hours after you took them off. The shoes in question were promptly thrown out of the window of Editorial Assistant Heather's apartment upon her return home; the event that she - accompanied by Gawker point-camera-make-clicky guy Nikola Tamindzic — attended them in was the Rock & Republic show afterparty at Hiro Ballroom. Also in attendance? Lady Sovereign's drum kit, Russell Simmons, some Romanian aristocracy, the arsitocracy's cat and the cat's nanny. It was that kind of party.
Enjoy our gallery of moderate debauchery, or Nikola's extended album of party people. It'll be just like you were there, feeling almost attractive/fashionable/wasted with us.

Fashion Week: Tracy Reese

Emily Gould · 02/05/07 12:10PM

Gawker editor Emily Gould joined forces with Gawker photographer Nikola Tamindzic for the first time ever — that's right, that is just how good Emily is at getting out of doing the "hard part" of her job — for Sunday's Tracy Reese show. After the jump, Emily divulges the gory details of her virgin voyage into fashion's hellmouth (turns out, she has something in common with models after all: she trips and falls on the runway, too!)

Fashion Week: Carlos Campos Afterparty @ Aspen

abalk2 · 02/05/07 11:30AM

Ah, Fashion Week: Nasal passages erode like endangered sane dunes, therapists are tortured with anxiety-ridden calls regarding wardrobe selection, and both podiatrists and Mo t & Chandon executives can literally smell the revenue coming in. This is the kind of shit we live for. As part of our saturation coverage, we spent our Saturday evening experiencing the Carlos Campos afterparty at Aspen. We recognized precisely no one, the publicists were less than helpful at locating the designer, the bar line was entirely too long and the people in attendance were almost, but not quite gorgeous. Self-importance seems to be the drug of choice with this crowd, and most of the people we spoke to didn't even realize it was a party for some dude who designed some obscure line of menswear. Still, it resulted in some nice shots for Gawker soul-stealer Nikola Tamindzic. You can expect continuous coverage of New York City's Greatest Week Ever until all the models go home.

How Is This Socialite Different From All Other Socialites?

Emily Gould · 02/02/07 04:40PM

Our feverish excitement about Fash Week has led us to peek into some darker nooks and crannies of the internet than usual; here's a nugget we turned up about socialite Claire Bernard, who mingled with the 'Tinz et al at that One Scottsdale/Vogue Italia party last night.

Fashion Week: Zulema and Tim Gunn, Not Exactly BFFs

abalk2 · 02/02/07 04:00PM

You know you've reached the most elite circles of the fashion world when you're covering a show by a seventh-place-finishing "Project Runway" contestant at 10 A.M. on the first day of Fashion Week. For such a momentous event, we sent Gizmodo's Adam Frucci and lovable videographer Richard Blakeley to the dregs of Chelsea to try to find some value in it all.
