The federal investigators who are tasked with determining whether Chicago Police Department cops are enforcing the law in a racially biased manner might start by listening to a police radio recording which surfaced online recently, in which a (presumably white) cop can be heard referring to his (presumably black) colleagues as “typical fucking niggers.”
Last October, five NYPD officers burst into the Brooklyn apartment of John Antoine, 86, and demanded that he drop the kitchen knife he was using to chop onions, then hit him with a stun gun. Antoine hadn’t done anything wrong. He wasn’t even the guy the cops were looking for. According to an NYPD spokesman, the officer who tasered Antoine should be commended for his “intelligent restraint.”
A police chief and an officer in White, Georgia, were arrested and charged Wednesday with false imprisonment, extortion, and violating oaths of public office. Police Chief David King and Officer Blake Scheff were accused of arresting people on fabricated charges and then reducing those charges to collect fines.
What havoc has been wreaked by Beyoncé’s black pride and the mere suggestion that she’s sick of the blatant disregard for black lives that some police officers exhibit? A real live shooting outside of the Tennessee home of Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold, for one, according to that sheriff. Two weeks ago, Ferguson officials and the U.S. Department of Justice announced that they’d come to an amicable deal over police reform, which would bring law enforcement in the Missouri city more in line with the constitution and avoid a lengthy battle in court. So much for all that: after Ferguson welched on the deal this week, the DOJ announced its plans to sue.

In April 2015, the New York City television station NY1 filed a open-records request for “unedited video files from the NYPD’s body camera program” captured during five specific weeks in 2014 and 2015. Four months later, the New York City Police Department agreed to review and release the footage—but only after NY1 paid a $36,000 “copying fee.” NY1 appealed the N.Y.P.D.’s decision and, in a letter dated September 16 of last year, was once again denied by the N.Y.P.D.’s deputy commissioner of legal matters.
Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher M. Heath, pictured above, is credited with personally leading 62 drug investigations, many of them involving large amounts of pot. Last week, Heath himself was caught carrying 240 pounds of pot in Pennsylvania, which he and two other men had allegedly driven across the country from California.
NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton and his predecessor Ray Kelly have not been getting on of late. Last week, Kelly—who is promoting his book—accused Bratton of manipulating crime statistics. “Shame on him,” Bratton said at a press conference Tuesday. “Let him back up that accusation.” Aw yeah, back that thing up.
Nassau Community College student Nicholson Gregoire tells the New York Daily News that Queens police officers wrongfully arrested and beat him earlier this month after they saw him walking his dog without a leash. Following the incident, cops charged Gregoire with assaulting an officer, strangulation, resisting arrest.
New York City police officer Jonathan Munoz was charged yesterday in connection to a March 12, 2014 incident in which he arrested a man for trying to film him outside a Washington Heights bar. As the surveillance video above shows, the incident played out very differently than Munoz originally claimed, and the officer has now been charged with official misconduct and lying on a criminal complaint.

The jury in the case against Daniel Holtzclaw, a former Oklahoma City police officer on trial for sexually assaulting black women in his community, is now deliberating for the third day in a row. Meanwhile, Buzzfeed has published testimony from each of the 13 women who have accused Holtzclaw of sexual assault.
A Maryland police officer who put a gun to a man’s head last year—in an apparent effort to show off for his dumb New Jersey friends—was convicted of first-degree assault and misconduct in office yesterday. The Washington Post reports that the Officer Jenchesky Santiago of the Prince George’s County Police Department will serve at least five years in jail for the conviction.
The New York Post continues its vigorous defense of All Cops Everywhere from the extremely rude Quentin Tarantino, reporting today that the director never actually spent any time in jail, despite repeated claims over many years that he spent at least 8 days in Los Angeles County lockup for traffic tickets.
