Armed, pro-Russian rebels continued to block access to the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine over the weekend, but the BBC reports that three Dutch investigators were able to inspect bodies found at the site today. Their findings haven't been released, but they said the rebel-controlled train holding the bodies may soon leave the rebel-held town of Torez.

Israeli officials said Monday that its military destroyed two more hidden tunnels operated by Hamas, killing 10 militants attempting to enter Israel. Army veteran Darin Welker, 36, has been raising 14 ducks as a form of therapy after sustaining a back injury in Iraq in 2005. Welker started keeping the ducks in the yard of his West Lafayette, Ohio home since March of this year, and has since received citations from town officials, who are demanding he get rid of the ducks. West Lafayette officials are citing a law adopted in 2010 that expressly forbids the keeping of "live poultry or fowl of any kind" (among many other animals).
At Least 40 People Were Shot This Weekend in Chicago

In another violent summer weekend in Chicago, at least 40 people were shot and four people were killed. Among the dead is 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, who was killed by a stray bullet that shot through the bedroom window of the sleepover she was attending. The bullet hit her while she was waiting to make s'mores with her friends. Adams died the next day in the hospital.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that 87 Palestinians have died, while the Israeli military said 13 soldiers are dead.
