U.S. Confirms Steven Sotloff Beheading Video, Obama Vows "Justice"

The National Security Council has confirmed the authenticity of the video released by ISIS yesterday depicting the beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff, the second such video in two weeks. "Whatever these murderers think they'll achieve by killing innocent Americans like Steven, they have already failed," President Obama, speaking from Estonia, said Wednesday. "We will not forget, and our reach is long and justice will be served."

John Oliver and Cookie Monster Have Some Important News About Words

In a dry spell without Last Week Tonight, we're still getting plenty of John Oliver. He spoofed Sesame Street in a segment about prisons last month, and now he's teamed up with Cookie Monster to anchor a news show about vocabulary words. It's sort of like Last Week Tonight, but with less cursing and more monsters.

Recently defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is joining an investment bank, where he will get rich advising corporate clients on deals. Meanwhile, enrollment in the food stamp program, for which Cantor voted to cut funding, is down. So everyone is doing well.
