You may remember American Idol season three winner Fantasia Barrino from winning the third season of American Idol. Here is evidence of mental health protocols in America being fucked up, which is something we might want to collectively figure out if we're going to stop things like mass shootings. Courtni Webb is a student at Learning Life Academy in California, and last month a teacher found a poem in her notebook that empathized with Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza. In the poem, Webb wrote the following:

We Will Avoid the Fiscal Cliff Because the Members of the House Are Tired and Want to Go Home

When I was in college I would do this thing where I would procrastinate on papers for days or weeks or months before finally buckling in and getting to work with, oh, 12 hours left before the thing was due. Then I would work furiously for a bit before giving up in the end and wrapping the paper up as sloppily as possible. It would be 3 a.m. and I would be in the library and I would say to myself, "I'm tired and I need to go home." I wasn't very good at college which is why I'm now a blogger — that's a lesson for you children.

Kathy Griffin continued her annual New Years Eve tradition of making her CNN cohost Anderson Cooper squirm and giggle in front of the massive crowd in Times Square and the families watching at home. Violence in Movies? What Violence in Movies?: The Year in Film

Rich Juzwiak · 12/31/12 04:47PM

When we remember 2012 in a few years and then a few more, what about this year in cinema will we retain? The death of film culture and then its resurrection via discursive lighting rod that Django Unchained proved itself to be, out of the gate? (Or the divisive Beasts of the Southern Wild, for that matter?) The release of two cartoonish movies about Abraham Lincoln? (Though Vampire Hunter was worse than Spielberg's Hall of Presidents recreation, at least it telegraphed how ridiculous it was from the get go.) The death (and death and death) of Taylor Kitsch's career? The reign of Channing Tatum? All the bow-wielding women heroes? Shawarma and branzino?
