Canada's Horrible Mayors: A Bestiary

Camille Dodero · 07/16/13 03:13PM

Last week, Stéphane Gendron, the Québécois mayor of the 2,500-person town of Huntingdon, openly bragged about killing cats on his radio show. What sort of public official does that? A Canadian mayor, of course, a political genus that's proven to be the most corrupt, foolish, and unrepentant beast of them all.

In the tradition of great documentaries, The Crash Reel was about way more than its ostensible subject. Tangents regarding Pearce's rival Shaun White, other athletes who suffered brain injuries (including freestyle skier Sarah Burke, who died in 2012), and Kevin's brother David, who has Down syndrome, rippled out of and enhanced the main narrative.

An Army of Ryan Gosling Look-alikes Rises In Iceland

Adrian Chen · 07/16/13 11:38AM

If you do not follow Icelandic news closely you may have missed the fact that Ryan Gosling turned the island nation upside down this month. He'd arrived in Iceland on July 10th to work with the Icelandic editor of his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, and ended up being mistaken for a not insignificant number of the country's men.

Judging you for what you think are unfair reasons. ... People will cross the street when they see you coming. They will call you hurtful names."
