Jeb Bush, by some measures, despises conflict. This is, of course, an especially curious personality trait for someone running for a presidential nomination in one of the largest fields ever. Case in point would be Bush getting railroaded multiple times by John Kasich in last night’s debate.

The most memorable time, which you see above, was when Donald Trump got into a spat with Kasich at the end of a response that was about to transition into a question aimed at Bush. As Kasich started to butt in, Trump said, “You should let Jeb speak,” which drew a mixture of applause and laughter from the audience. Despite having Trump, his one-time enemy and the most commanding person in the room, as muscle, Jeb, alas, did not speak.

This echoed an earlier confrontation between Bush and Kasich, in which moderator Maria Bartiromo directly addressed Jeb before getting interrupted by Kasich who says, like a damn baby, “I would like to make comment.” Bush retorts about as immaturely—“I got about four minutes last debate I’m gonna get my question right now”—before immediately ceding the floor to Kasich to run into Bush’s time with a point about the value added tax.

Jeb, you sound like a South Park character.

By the time of his closing statement, Bush seemed utterly defeated, making a clipped and noticeably short remark about veterans that was out of step with the rest of the debate and his campaign in general.

Soon it will all be over. The bad men won’t be able to hurt Jeb any longer.
