Is Rubio Even Eligible to Be President? Who’s to Say—Donald Trump’s Just Asking Questions
[There was a video here]
Donald Trump’s made no secret of the fact that he thinks Canadian man Ted Cruz isn’t actually eligible to be our next president. But now, Trump is extending that claim to include Marco Rubio.
Why might the Miami-born Marco Rubio be ineligible to run, exactly? That’s a great question for which Trump does not appear to have an answer. In an interview yesterday morning, George Stephanopoulos asked Trump about the “retweet” below.
"@ResisTyr: Mr.Trump...BOTH Cruz AND Rubio are ineligible to be POTUS! It's a SLAM DUNK CASE!! Check it! https://t.co/NjqWP0pP6X"
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 20, 2016
Trump’s response:
I think the lawyers have to determine it. It was a retweet – not so much with Marco. I’m not really that familiar with Marco’s circumstance.... Let people make their own determination.
... I don’t know. I’ve never looked at it, George. Honestly, I’ve never looked at it. As somebody said, he’s not. And I retweeted it. I have 14 million people between Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, and I retweet things and we start dialogue and it’s very interesting.
See? Trump isn’t necessarily saying anything at all. Is Marco Rubio eligible to be President? Is he actually several golden retrievers in a trench coat? Does Marco Rubio exist? Do we exist? It’s impossible to know for sure.
We start dialogue; it’s very interesting.
