Drama abounded at DKNY's show yesterday: PETA protestors burst onto the runway, shouting and brandishing placards—to the apparent amusement of André Leon Talley—while Petra Nemcova's new bangs rendered her unrecognizable and therefore unmolested by the media. Meanwhile the rather random celebrity trio of Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci, and Nicole Richie were regaled with "combinations of electric blue and black, neon pink and yellow anorak dresses, parachute pants and color-blocked knits" and a finale led by Donna Karan's five-year-old granddaughter Stefania. No one had a bad word to say about Threeasfour's presentation, which had grown men (well, Waris Ahluwalia, Vincent Gallo, and Sean Lennon) "rapt," and culminated in a dress made of seashells. The crowd, which also included Arden Wohl, Roisin Murphy, Lynn Yaeger, and Glenn O'Brien, "freaked out. Editors stood, photographers whistled, and everyone broke into applause." At Rock and Republic, the presence of Chace Crawford, Jessica Szohr, Ashley Olsen, and Margherita Missoni didn't compensate for the fact that the monochrome collection "missed the mark." [Fashionista, WWD]
Erin Fetherston's show, which was, needless to say, ethereal, diaphanous, pastel, romantic, and feminine, went down well with Lynn Yaeger, Mickey Boardman, Emma Roberts and Nigel Barker—who was seen recruiting an eager wannabe for ANTM from the crowd. [Fashionista, The Cut, The Pipeline]
At Alexander Wang, attendees such as Daisy Lowe and Mark Ronson arrived drenched, but Anna Wintour was, for reasons best known to herself, untouched by a single drop of rain. Her reaction to Wang's casual downtowny looks was, of course, inscrutable. [Fashionologie, The Cut, The Daily]
Given the presence of Lindsay and Samantha front row, Charlotte Ronson could have sent models down the runway in their underwear and still been one of the hottest tickets of the weekend. As it was, the clothes—"pink, girly and perfectly rough round the edges"—got great reviews anyway. [Paper, Fashionista, Nylon]
