After a recent, wholly believable revelation in The New Yorker that described Chris Christie as Donald Trump’s “manservant,” Governor Christie’s office has vehemently denied the allegations. Sure, buddy—whatever you say.

For those who have forgotten, this was the allegation in question:

Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, another of Trump’s opponents early in the campaign, has transformed himself into a sort of manservant, who is constantly with Trump at events. (One Republican told me that a friend of his on the Trump campaign used Snapchat to send him a video of Christie fetching Trump’s McDonald’s order.)

The Governor’s office, however, called the (probably real) anecdote “pure trash” in a statement to the Asbury Park Press:

We categorically deny this ridiculous, completely invented scenario, which the writer attributed to an unnamed source’s anonymous friend. The fact the writer relegated this bit of sleaze between parenthesis certainly indicates he knew it was pure trash that had to be carefully separated from the rest of the story.

Someone seems to be getting awfully defensive over a story that supposedly holds no merit. Perhaps a look into Chris Christie’s eyes will reveal the truth.

Yep. There’s that blank, delivery boy stare.
