Now that Stephen Colbert is officially exploring the possibility of running in South Carolina, his Super PAC, under the direction of Jon Stewart, has begun running attack ads. The first spot targeted Mitt Romney, who was likened to Jack the Ripper, and may have had an exaggeration or two. But that's not on Colbert's shoulders, after all, like all the other candidates, he isn't coordinating with the Super PAC.

Last week, Jon Stewart took over Stephen Colbert's Super PAC and now he has to find ways to spend all that money. But, since they can't coordinate with each other, Colbert must give Stewart coded messages while being interviewed on television, exactly like Newt Gingrich must do. Apparently the answer was having Mario Batali feed him an egg frittata.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a look at Newt Gingrich's last month, wherein he went from leading the field to coming in a distant fourth at the New Hampshire primary. Part of Gingrich's decline has had to do with some choice quotes about African-Americans being on welfare but Gingrich doesn't see it that way. In his mind, he's being magnanimous and generous which is actually pretty predictable.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart gave us his thoughts on the results of the New Hampshire primary. He took a swipe at Mitt Romney's victory speech and the results spin by MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell. And Stewart had time for a couple of shots at Jon Huntsman and the victory speech that accompanied his third place finish. Get the jokes in now, Jon, who knows how much longer you'll have Huntsman to kick around.

There's been so much hoopla surrounding the Republican primaries, what with debates and caucuses and attack ads and Super PACs, that it's easy to forget there's a great big world out there. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart checked in on Iran and the latest news on their uranium enrichment program. They claim it is for research purposes, the United States doesn't agree, and then there's that all that nasty business about blockading the Straight of Hormuz and sentencing Iranian-Americans to death for spying. It's like living in a sweeping epic that probably won't have a Hollywood ending.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a look at some of the GOP infighting and realized there's only two things that the field can agree on: that class warfare is bad and that Mitt Romney is too rich. The funny part is that Mitt symbolizes all the free market, no regulations, breaks for job creators stuff that they all spout continually. Did I say "funny?" I actually meant "typical of a group of people willing to say and do anything to get what they want."

Tonight's Daily Show featured content tailor made for Jon Stewart to tee off on: Republican claims of the President's abuse of his executive power over something extremely petty and the manipulation of Senate procedures to help make their case. All they needed to do was hold a 30 second session to render Obama's recess appointment moot. It's all more fuel for what we are sure to hear from Obama in the upcoming general election, that it is all Congress' fault.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart had his chance to address the results of the Iowa Caucuses. He paid special attention to the candidates' speeches, making sure to highlight Marcus Bachmann's doggie sunglasses shopping spree and Ron Paul's obscure reference to a couple of Austrian economists. Stewart also had some choice words for winner Mitt Romney and his public persona which he purchased along with his victory.

Tonight's Daily Show can't comment on the Iowa caucuses on account of having been taped earlier today but that didn't stop Jon Stewart from breaking out his "White Man's Sampler" box of chocolates and breaking down the candidates. The plain one is Romney of course, the one filled with nuts is Bachmann and the one with the terrible cherry concoction inside is, naturally, Santorum.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart used his last show of the year to deliver an impassioned plea to the people who have made Newt Gingrich the latest frontrunner for the Republican nomination; it boiled down to, simply, "don't do this." Stewart trotted out footage of other prominent Conservatives who have major problems with Gingrich but it doesn't seem to matter. After all, nothing can undo Gingrich's greatest quality: not being Mitt Romney.

Each man has a legitimate claim to the prize, Romney for suggesting that Newt Gingrich is inconsistently conservative and Obama for asking Iran to return the downed drone that was spying on them. The competition was most certainly stiff and, in the end, President Obama won by a hair.

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a look at the controversy surrounding TLC's new show, All American Muslim, and the Tampa-based group that hates it. Because the Muslims depicted in the show aren't shown to be terrorists bent on destroying America, the Florida Family Association can't abide it. Like most zealots, all they want is their stereotypes reinforced. Is it too much to ask for Bravo to whip up a season of the The Real Martyrs of Jalalabad? Sheesh.

The Republican Jewish Coalition 2012 Presidential Candidates Forum was held on Tuesday in Washington, DC. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart described the forum as a holiday celebrating "the miracle of incredibly Christian presidential candidates fighting over who loves Jews more" before ranking each one based on how much—and how shamelessly—they managed to suck up to Israel.

After Congress passed a version of the National Defense Authorization Act last week that allows for indefinite military detention of citizens without a trial on America soil, we pointed out 20 of its most alarming provisions. President Obama not only has the ability to veto any of those provisions, but has also previously spoken out against indefinite detention. So we're good,! Except that, as Jon Stewart explained on tonight's Daily Show, we're actually not.

On Friday, the conservative website Newsmax announced it would hold a Republican presidential debate on December 27, moderated by none other than Donald Trump. Only Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have so far accepted the invitation, with Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney refusing it—even Karl Rove doesn't like the idea! But you know who is excited about the prospect of a Trump Debate? Jon Stewart, as he explained on tonight's Daily Show.

Professional troll Herman Cain announced he was suspending his presidential campaign on Saturday after weeks of sexual harassment/affair allegations proved too much for the simpleton to ever effectively deny on television. So on tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart sent Cain off in style by mocking pretty much every element of his farewell address.

On Tuesday, Republican presidential obsessive Mitt Romney agreed to a rare one-on-one interview with Fox News' Brett Baier, which turned quite sour the moment Baier dared to ask Romney why he's been on every side of every issue. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart noted that Romney's reaction when asked about his political flip-flopping resembled that of Herman Cain when asked about alleged mistress Ginger White.

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was forced to address the nation yesterday with the addition of a faulty fire alarm, which blared loudly in the background for nearly two-thirds of the broadcast. Even though Williams remained largely unfazed by the disturbance, the incident served as fodder for Jon Stewart on tonight's Daily Show—that is, until his own segment was interrupted by a loud siren. (I suggest it was Brian Williams, in the kitchen, with the bullhorn.)

Yesterday, a woman named Ginger White came forward alleging a 13-year extramarital affair with Herman Cain, a charge Cain flatly denied (while warning us of its imminence) in an interview with Wolf Blitzer. After praising him for finally having a consensual sex-related scandal on tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart proceeded to poke hole after hole in Cain's weak and improbable denial.

In case you were too busy eating last Thursday to keep up with the news, some conservatives were very upset with President Obama for leaving God out of his YouTube Thanksgiving address. No, Obama isn't the only recent president to do so, and yes, God was in his written address, but that didn't stop Fox News from devoting way too much airtime to overreacting to the "snub." So on tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart gave the crybaby network a nice lashing.
