The Air Up There: Brandy Joins R&B's Moody Dudes with Her Spectacular Two Eleven

Rich Juzwiak · 10/17/12 11:05AM

The most exciting recent musical development in R&B has less to do with its beat than what's floating above it. The synth-led humidity the genre has absorbed via the likes of Frank Ocean, Drake (and his producer, Noah "40" Shebib), the Weeknd, and Miguel is shaping the commercial genre before our ears in a way that hasn't happened since Timbaland revolutionized it by making it skitter during the last half of the ‘90s. Mood music actually sounds moody again.

People Won't Stop Suing Chris Brown and Drake

Taylor Berman · 08/20/12 06:45PM

The love of Rihanna's life, Chris Brown, and his sensitive, sweater-draped nemesis Drake can't stop getting sued by people over their bottle fight two months ago. Last week, the feuding Rihanna lovers were sued by company called Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., which is somehow connected to WiP, the club where the bottle throwing melee took place. The complaint seeks $16 million in damages, claiming that, and this is actually in the legal papers, the two "shared a grudge against the other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman." According to the lawsuit, this led to bottle throwing and fighting between the two crews, which are described in the suit thusly:

Sexile in Guyville: Lady Writers and the Male Celebrities They Profile

Emma Carmichael · 03/22/12 04:30PM

In GQ this month, Claire Hoffman sits down with rapper Drake for the magazine's cover story. Drake is not a horribly interesting person, and celebrity profiling is not usually a horribly interesting craft, but Hoffman wrote a great piece. Within the few hours she spent at the rapper's mansion in The Valley, she essentially lived through a real-life chapter of a 16-year-old's fan fiction. Drake wined and dined her (with white wine spritzers!) in his backyard terrace—complete with waterfalls, bronze animal statues, and a giant fire pit "fit for a king from Middle-earth"—and they watched Sixteen Candles. All that was missing was a bearskin rug.

Which Gay Celebrity Rumors Do You Believe?

Brian Moylan · 08/25/11 12:51PM

You hear them all the time, you read them in blind items, and your friend at the bar knows someone who knows someone who definitely used to sleep with a guy who used to sleep with Bradley Cooper. Yes, we're talking about celebrity gay rumors. But when do you think they're actually true?
