Last night Drake closed out OVO Fest, the mini-music festival he throws every year in his hometown of Toronto. A lot of things happened, like Drake bringing out special guests Usher and Lauryn Hill. Now, I wasn't there, but I feel safe saying that definitely the most important thing that happened was him riding over the crowd on a flying stripper pole.
Childish Gambino, the rapper formerly known as Community star Donald Glover, is really feeling himself these days. Freestyling at a show in Australia, where he's living while he records his new EP, Gambino bragged about being better than every rapper living, including better rappers Drake, ScHoolboy Q, and Kendrick Lamar.

Drake has issued a statement regarding his Rolling Stone Twitter tantrum. Basically, he supports Rolling Stone's decision to replace him on the cover, but he "was not able to salvage my story or my photos and that was devastating." Also, his lack of choice in the matter made him feel "violated." Oh yeah, and he's "sorry."
Drake pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live last night, performing for the second time in his career and hosting for the first. All told, he was SNL's most entertaining host in a while, and the same could be said for the episode itself. More highlights are below.

It's true — you only do live once, and in this lifetime, Drake wants a check for all that YOLO merchandise. The Canadian teardrop shed the holiday spirit on Christmas Eve in favor of a capitalist one, uploading two photos to Instagram of YOLO clothing and demanding that someone cut him a check. The photos were taken in a Walgreens and a Macy's, meaning that Drake is either a cheap and lazy Christmas shopper like the rest of us or he has a roving team of YOLO spies policing drug and department stores across the country (stop snitching!).
In these last few days of 2012, parting with some of our favorite phrases and trends is proving to be a rough experience. ABC must be having a hard time saying goodbye to one of its most beloved catchphrases. One of the network's top stars, Katie Couric, embraced YOLO, or "You Only Live Once," like a child of her own.
According to reports, Degrassi graduate Drake hung out with culinary titan Guy Fieri Saturday night. Obviously, this is a big deal. Thankfully, someone took a picture of the historic meeting. As my colleague Max Read wrote, the photograph is "possibly the all-time achievement of the mimetic image." In it, a focused Drake stares intently as he stirs some sort of sauce (marinara? chocolate? donkey sauce?) while a patient, wise-seeming Fieri looks on.
