A 26-year-old New York City man says he plans to sue the city for unlawful arrest after NYPD officers pulled him over in the Bronx and refused to give him any reason for the stop. Ben Farias was ordered out of the car, but he left his phone in the cupholder to record the search. The video includes one cop admitting “I don’t know why we pulled him over.”

Authorities in Austin say they’re currently investigating a viral video showing officers taking the phone of a man filming police and then pepper-spraying him, KTBC News reports.

On Saturday, video was uploaded to Youtube of police officers screaming at and arresting children at a community pool in Texas. One officer, confronted by two boys while grabbing a young girl by the neck and shoving her head towards the ground, pulls his gun and points it at them.

On Friday, a jury in Los Angeles found Officer Mary O’Callaghan guilty of assault under color of authority, the Los Angeles Times reports. Video shows O’Callaghan slapping and kicking the handcuffed Alesia Thomas, who lost consciousness and died soon after, in the back of her squad car. O’Callaghan was not charged in Thomas’ death.

In July 2013, a Broward County deputy sheriff shot and killed Jermaine McBean after shouting at him to drop what turned out to be an unloaded air rifle resting on his shoulder. The officer swore under oath that there was nothing stopping McBean from hearing his orders. A photograph taken by a witness has emerged, however, that appears to show McBean lying on the ground after he was shot, wearing earbuds. The New York Times reports that police records indicate the earbuds “somehow wound up in the dead man’s pocket.”

According to the Washington Post, police have shot and killed at least 385 people so far this year. About half the victims were white and half minority; however, two-thirds of unarmed victims were black or Hispanic. Nearly a quarter of the victims were identified as suffering from a mental illness.

When a Florida man told his girlfriend he planned to kill himself, she called the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office for help. He’s “threatened to kill himself twice now; what do I do and who do I call?” she asked the 911 operator, adding “He recently lost his job, in addition to he’s also been drinking.”

The city of Cleveland has reached a settlement with the Justice Department, the New York Times reports, over unconstitutional practices—including a pattern of excessive use of force—the United States Attorney’s Office identified in an investigation last year.

On Saturday, an Ohio judge acquitted Cleveland police officer Michael Brelo of manslaughter, the New York Times reports. During a November 2012 car chase, Brelo, who is white, and other police officers, fired 137 rounds at Timothy Russell and his passenger, Malissa Williams, who were black and unarmed.

Which is why, last week, the LAPD arrested three California residents allegedly behind the Masonic Fraternal Police Department.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the withdrawal of the National Guard from the city of Baltimore, Agence France-Presse reports. Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake lifted the 10 p.m. curfew this morning.

In a video published by the Associated Press, police in Baltimore are seen to pepper-spray a man wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan, “Fuck the Police.”

On Saturday, a plainclothes New York City police officer in an unmarked car was shot in the face after driving up to a man to question him, the New York Times reports. The officer is in critical but stable condition.

NYPD officers shot and killed a man as they tried to arrest him Saturday afternoon at a halfway house in the East Village, the New York Post reports. Police said the man was wanted on a robbery charge.

Freddie Gray, 27, was arrested last week by Baltimore police. The Baltimore Sun reports that after sustaining mysterious injuries during his arrest and undergoing spinal surgery on Tuesday, Gray died this morning at Shock Trauma.

After conducting an analysis of more than 10,000 bicycle tickets issued by the Tampa police over the past 12 years, the Tampa Bay Times has found that 79 percent of those ticketed are black. Blacks make up about a quarter of the city’s population, the Times reports.

A former Philadelphia narcotics cop testified in court today against six of his former co-workers, claiming the group stole drug money and planted evidence "too many times to count" during his nearly 15 years in the department's drug unit.

A California cop has been placed on paid leave after allegedly playing with a corpse's feet, the New York Daily News reports. The man had been shot and killed by police after leading them on a high-speed chase in November.
