Freddie Gray, 27, was arrested last week by Baltimore police. The Baltimore Sun reports that after sustaining mysterious injuries during his arrest and undergoing spinal surgery on Tuesday, Gray died this morning at Shock Trauma.

On Thursday, Baltimore police released a timeline of events outlining their account of Gray’s arrest near the Gilmore Homes. Police still have not disclosed how Gray was injured, or why he was arrested.

Via the Baltimore Sun, here is the police timeline of Gray’s arrest:

•Four officers on bicycles attempted to stop him in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. at 8:39 a.m. Sunday, and he ran from them. “Officers are working in an area with a history of drug dealing and violence,” the police timeline said.

•A minute later, they caught and arrested him in the 1700 block of Pressbury St. and requested a police van.

•The officers put him in the van when it arrived, then stopped at 8:54 a.m. at the intersection of Mount and Baker streets nearby to put more restraints on him. “Video evidence indicates the suspect is conscious and speaking at this time,” police said.

•Paramedics were called to the Western District police station to take him to the hospital.

Gray received surgery on Tuesday for three broken vertebrae and an injured voice box, his stepfather Richard Shipley told the Sun.

Hundreds of protestors gathered outside the Baltimore Police Department’s Western District station on Sunday morning, just hours before Shipley confirmed Gray’s death. “He’s gone,” Shipley said. “What else is there to say?”
