We've had some intermittent issues with the Dailyfile RSS feed. Sorry about that! It seems to be working now; you can access it here. Also: To those of you who have emailed to ask, yes, you're more than welcome to submit corrections and/or additional information. You can contact us with this form. We try to make the updates as quickly as possible, but it occasionally takes a day or two, so please bear with us. Finally, we're still accepting resumes if you're interested in any of these positions. Thanks!

The $100 Million Nunnery

cityfile · 07/17/08 08:08AM

Good news for anyone looking to give Ira Rennert a run for his money in the Hamptons real estate market! The Post reports the 21,000-square-foot nunnery known as Villa Maria in Water Mill is about to hit the market at more than $100 million. (It's now owned by Vincent Camuto, the co-founder of Nine West.) In addition to the manse, which features 12 bedrooms and a ballroom, the property also comes with three guest cottages and 1,200 feet of shoreline. It's a little bit more modest than Rennert's "Fair Field," but you can always install the two bowling alleys yourself.

Pat Duff Goes It Alone

cityfile · 07/17/08 07:47AM

Pat Duff has access to the best lawyers money can buy, so naturally when it came time to pick someone to represent her in a pending custody case with her ex-husband Ron Perelman over their daughter Caleigh, she went with the best: herself. The choice is a little odd—she didn't even go to law school!—until you consider that she and her ex-husband spent $15 million+ on lawyers during their divorce war in the '90s. Maybe she's picked up a thing or two? [NYP]

Starck at Sea

cityfile · 07/17/08 07:32AM

The Wall Street Journal takes a look at the massive yacht that Philippe Starck designed for Andrei Melnichenko, the 36-year-old Russian billionaire already known for his insane spending. What does the $300 million Starck-ified boat come with? Two swimming pools, helipad, hovercraft, garage, 100 audio speakers, 12 plasma TV screens, cream-colored leather walls, stainless-steel whirlpool baths, and motion sensors throughout. [WSJ]

CNN Loves Assassinations, Emmy Nods

cityfile · 07/17/08 06:40AM

The Situation Room on CNN got its first Emmy nomination for their coverage of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto! Didn't you hear? Yea, it totally sucked that she got killed and all. But dude! We got an Emmy nod! The rather tasteless footage of Wolf Blitzer and the gang gloating after the jump.

Is Bloomberg Officially New York City's Richest?

cityfile · 07/17/08 06:27AM

Could Michael Bloomberg now be the richest man in New York? Probably! Bloomberg LP is a private company, of course, and putting a price tag on the enormously profitable financial news giant has long been a challenge. It hasn't been any easier to peg Bloomberg's own net worth: Last year, after the Wall Street Journal suggested he might be worth as much as $13 billion, an embarrassed Forbes more than doubled his net worth from $5.5 billion to $11.5 billion, a reminder of just what a guesstimate the entire Forbes list really is despite their suggestions to the contrary.

Happy Birthday

Publicist Peggy Siegal turns 61 today! She's as wrinkle-free as ever, isn't she? Other people celebrating themselves today: David Hasselhoff is 56. Phyllis Diller is 91. Donald Sutherland is 73. Defense attorney Peter Neufeld turns 58. Goldman Sachs banker Jack Levy is 55. Evan Chesler, the presiding partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, turns 59. And Linda Gibbs, who oversees the city's homeless shelters, foster care program, and the corrections department, turns 49 today.

Howard Stern: Heartbroken Mess?

cityfile · 07/17/08 05:15AM
  • The biggest loser in the Jimmy Kimmel-Sarah Silverman breakup? Howard Stern, who sounds despondent about the split. He was supposed to hang out with the couple on vacation last week, but they never showed, and when Howard later heard the news, he was so upset he had to take a walk to calm down. [Page Six]

The Wildenstein Townhouse to Brooke Astor's Butler?

cityfile · 07/16/08 02:30PM
  • More news on the sale of the Wildenstein mansion at 11 East 64th Street. Although there's still no word on who the mystery buyer is—earlier rumors had suggested it was Len Blavatnik—the address listed on the deed belongs to Christopher Ely, Brooke Astor's former butler. [NYO, photos]

Jamie Dimon Will Trade You a Gift Card for Your Gun

cityfile · 07/16/08 01:48PM

Got an illegal firearm sitting around the house? Good news: If you bring it to one of six churches this weekend, you'll earn yourself a $200 Chase gift card. No questions asked! Do note, though, that you can't simply waltz in with the gun in plain sight. To qualify, you'll need to wrap it up in a plastic or paper bag. Feel free to turn up with a rifle, handgun or a shotgun—they all qualify although BB guns will only earn you $20—and there's no need to remove the ammo: You can bring them loaded. And this unusual marketing arrangement is clearly a win-win for Jamie Dimon's notoriously aggressive JP Morgan Chase: Not only do illegal gun owners represent a valuable demo (all those ill-gotten stacks of $100 and no place to put them!), we also suspect fewer guns on the street also translates into fewer tellers with guns pointed in their direction.

Alternate Sports for Summer

cityfile · 07/16/08 01:00PM

Sure, it's summer in New York, that one time of year when even the clutziest office-dweller gets a yearning to head outdoors. But why be boring and play tennis or golf like everyone else? Skip the sports that require skill (which you probably don't have anyway!) and try something new. Badminton? Croquet? Bocce, perhaps? Nobody will know if you're any good, because they've probably never played the "sport" themselves, so you'll almost definitely be able to impress your friends and colleagues with your unique athletic exploits. At the very least, with some of these activities, you're sure to become the de facto expert on the subject once the Olympics start next month!
