The Cannibal Cop, suspended NYPD officer Gilberto Valle, was found guilty of conspiracy to kill and cannibalize women on Tuesday morning. Valle had connected with other liked-minded people on fetish websites to torture and consume women he knew, including his wife. While his lawyers argue that this was just fantasizing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Hadassa Waxman said Valle was taking concrete steps to enact his plot to kidnap and kill. Valle's defense attorney Julia Gatto said this situation was equivalent to the overblown "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast in 1938, which people mistook for truth and caused an unwarranted panic.

Last October, 28-year-0ld NYPD officer Gilbert Valle III, aka the Cannibal Cop, was arrested and charged with "conspiracy to kidnap, cook, and eat" up to 100 women. In court on Wednesday, prosecutors provided additional online chats (some online conversations were released in October) between Valle and one of his online cannibal buddies, who uses the screen name "Moody Blues." This Moody Blues character was, apparently, far more experienced than Valle, who hadn't actually eaten anyone yet.
Gilberto Valle, the NYPD cop suspected of planning to kidnap, cook, and eat dozens of women, was probably going to be denied bail again anyway, but it certainly didn't help his case that prosecutors were able to produce a transcript of an online conversation he had about eating "girl meal" for Thanksgiving.
