Indiana's Anti-Gay "Religious Freedom" Isn't More of the Same—It's Worse

Indiana just passed its own version of a federal law called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, due to take effect July 1, making it one of nearly 20 states (and the U.S. Congress) to have enacted such a bill. But while other RFRA bills range from the righteous to the innocuous, Indiana's is pernicious and scary—and anyone who tells you it's exactly the same is lying to you.

The above mugshot belongs to Brandy Allen, 31, an Arkansas woman arrested on Labor Day for allegedly stealing $144 worth of eye makeup from a mall cosmetics store. Fayetteville police say she grabbed "handfuls of makeup without looking at the color or labels. She didn't appear to be checking prices, either."

James Bushart, 44, of Arkansas, is apparently familiar with meth, but has never seen a Plymouth Prowler before. He was arrested this week for DWI and drugs after cops say he menaced a couple in the car—which he thought was a spaceship—and told them to take it back to their alien planet.
