Adam Weinstein · 05/08/14 01:58PM

When Marine veteran Daniel Rey Wolfe signed on to Facebook on Monday night and announced he was taking his own life, documenting the process in a graphic timeline of final self-portraits, his former comrades worked quickly and purposefully to save their brother-in-arms.

Bitcoiners wishing to influence the American political process may now donate to their favorite (agorist, libertarian, crypto-conservative or maybe totally normal!) candidate using their internet-Monopoly-money, says the Federal Election Commission.

Caity Weaver · 05/08/14 12:10PM

"[You know] what's the most important thing in a name—for a girl? It's that a man can whisper it into his pillow." So sayeth Reese Witherspoon (actress; party queen; official Gamma Phi social chair and unofficial Gamma Phi hazing captain) to an elevator full of stars in a bewitching new video posted to Instagram.

Thatz Not Okay: Can I Tell My Friend His Wife Uses Sex to Trick Him?

Caity Weaver · 05/08/14 10:56AM

I am friends with a married couple where the wife confides in me with relationship issues and happenings. Recently, the wife informed me that she has only been using sex as a "behavioral training mechanism" (her words) to get her husband to complete various domestic tasks. For instance, she has rewarded emptying the dishwasher with daily sex as reinforcement. After three weeks, the dishwasher has continued to be emptied sans sex. This has apparently occurred on multiple occasions for cleaning and other household tasks.

Happy Birthday to History's Great Critic-Gossip, Edmund Wilson

Michelle Dean · 05/08/14 10:30AM

Edmund Wilson, the noted critic and public intellectual, was born on this day in 1895. (He died in 1972.) Wilson had the kind of come-to-New-York-and-pal-around-with-writer-celebrities life that quite a lot of people still dream of. He was also a notorious gossip.

Is the Obama administration secretly ordering banks to close porn stars' accounts in an anti-money laundering program called "Operation Choke Point"? Probably not, but give conspiracy theorists mad points for hooking up that name and those deeds.
