UN: 356 Killed in Ukraine Since May

At least 356 people have been killed and 200 more have been tortured in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine forces and pro-Russian separatists since early May, according to a report from the UN. The same report notes that the current "climate of insecurity and fear" across the country has displaced more than 34,000 people.

Iraq's Largest Oil Refinery Attacked, Set on Fire by ISIS Militants

Fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria attacked Iraq's largest oil refinery last night, reportedly setting as many as 17 storage tanks on fire. The Iraqi army claimed it fought off the militants, killing 40, though reports from refinery workers indicate that the ISIS remains in control of the Baiji plant, which is located just 140 miles north of Baghdad.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency has reported that a boat carrying 97 people from Indonesia sank off the coast of western Malaysia. 61 people, including women and children, are still missing. Reuters is reporting that the passengers on the boat are suspected to have been trying to enter Malaysia illegally.

Prosecutors have dropped the domestic violence case against Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, who were arrested by police in April after getting into an "atypical argument" at their New Canaan, Conn. home. "I got my feelings hurt and I picked a fight with my husband," Brickell said in a statement. "The police called it disorderly. Thank God it's orderly now."
