That probably bedbug-infested beanbag chair that you're rocking in your walk-up doesn't come off as retro, it reads more like "I still hide my bong under the kitchen sink every time my mom comes over to do my laundry." However, if you take this quick survey, email the last question to surveys@gawker.com with "Ikea Gift Card Contest" as the subject line, you'll be entered to win a $150 gift card to, you guessed it, Ikea! Mom will be so proud!

Hamilton Nolan · 05/10/11 10:48AM
Kevin Glasheen is a lawyer in Texas. He is also a lobbyist. He successfully lobbied the state to pass a bill raising the amount of money that it pays to inmates who are exonerated and freed after being wrongfully convicted and imprisoned. For completing this fine deed, Glasheen expects to be paid handsomely—by the freed inmates themselves.

NYPD officer Kenneth Moreno (pictured) and his partner are on trial for allegedly raping a drunk woman in her East Village apartment in 2008. Moreno is referred to in tabloid shorthand as "RAPE COP," which is maybe a wee bit prejudicial, but, you know, tabloids. Yesterday, Moreno took the stand in his own defense. Her version: she came home drunk, the cops came into her apartment multiple times, and Moreno raped her while she was incapacitated. His version: he is too sexxxy for his own good.

Jeff Neumann · 05/10/11 07:26AM
As her husband deploys tanks to kill civilians in cities across Syria, many have wondered where in the world the "glamorous, young, and very chic" Asma al-Assad could be. It turns out that the dual British-Syrian citizen is probably hiding out in west London where she grew up, according to reports. The Telegraph spoke with a "high-ranking Arab diplomatic source" who claims that she is indeed staying in North Acton with her family. The source also said, "Clearly her presence could cause huge embarrassment to the British, so none of this has been made public." Yes, that would be pretty embarrassing!
Blago's Lawyer Is More Obnoxious Than He Is
Jeff Neumann · 05/10/11 06:31AM
Since the retrial of cartoonish former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich began on April 20, his defense attorney Aaron Goldstein has been hit with over 150 objections from prosecutors. And yesterday, the judge in the case basically told him to quit pussy footing around and get to the goddamn point: "If you are going to make a defense, make a defense. Don't nibble around the edges with stuff that's inadmissible." Goldstein has also apparently been giving "non-factual descriptions" during his cross-examination of witnesses.
Frat Boys and Politicians Win on Texas Senate 'Gun Day'
Jeff Neumann · 05/10/11 05:15AM
Yesterday was a big day for armed vigilantes in Texas. The state Senate first passed a bill that will allow "legislators, statewide elected officials, some former legislators and some state employees to carry their concealed weapons into churches, hospitals, bars, sporting events — even if a sign is posted saying weapons are prohibited." Do you foresee any problems arising from that?

The fucksaw scandal that rocked Northwestern University to its very foundations, in which a psychology professor innocently hosted a demonstration of a motorized sex toy on a woman in front of 100 gape-jawed students, has reached its sad yet inevitable conclusion: Professor Michael Bailey's human sexuality class will no longer be offered at the school.

Seth Abramovitch · 05/10/11 02:19AM
The television landscape has been altered inexorably today, with news that makeup-forward shock starlet Taylor Momsen will not be returning to Gossip Girl next season. The precocious actress, who is 17-going-on-undead, was rumored to have been suspended from the show last November for bad behavior. TVLine reports that producers have now chosen to officially "part ways" with both Momsen and co-star Jessica Szohr, who plays Vanessa Abrams.
