Fake nails, prosthetics, hours in the make up chair—the creators of MTV's new series Teen Wolf shunned CGI smoke and mirrors and opted for a more (dare we say?) authentic werewolf look for their young actors. Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi took some time out of his busy schedule hiding from NATO bombs, fighting a war against his own people, and getting so high to play a game of chess with the president of the World Chess Federation, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov yesterday in Tripoli. Russian news agency Interfax reports that Qaddafi and one of his sons went with the Sicilian Defense — a chess opening that is described as "combative." How fitting. He also said there's no way he's leaving Libya.

Tape Measure Proves World's Shortest Man Is Very Short

An 18-year-old Filipino man, Junrey Balawing, officially became the World's Shortest Man yesterday according to a sweaty man with a tape measure from Guinness World Records. Balawing is 23.5 inches tall and won the award on his birthday. His mother told Reuters, "We are happy on this day. We are proud of Junrey." The previous record holder is a man from Nepal who stands 26 inches tall. [Reuters]
