You think because you "took the stairs" this morning that you can eat whatever you want? Nope, because we're all fat. The fat people are fat. The skinny people are fat. The regular people are fat. The young and old are fat. You're fat. I'm fat. Your mom's way fat. We're fatter, in fact, than we thought.

Neetzan Zimmerman · 04/19/12 10:44AMWhat You Need to Know About ALEC, the Creepy Right-Wing Group Behind Stand Your Ground
Max Read · 04/19/12 10:05AM
ALEC is dead. Long live ALEC. Yesterday, the American Legislative Exchange Council — a national clearinghouse of pre-written right-wing bills, helpfully provided to conservative state legislators too dumb to come up with their own ideas — announced that it was abandoning the task force that pushed voter-surpression bills and "Stand Your Ground" laws like the one that led Sanford Police to free George Zimmerman the night he killed Trayvon Martin. "We are eliminating the ALEC Public Safety and Elections task force that dealt with non-economic issues," the group's statement said, "and reinvesting these resources in the task forces that focus on the economy."

In Washington the District of Columbia, hipness is not just something you put on and take off every day like a "wacky" tie showing a photo of Richard Nixon meeting Elvis Presley; it is a way of life. And DC's young, hip vibe is not just limited to young nerds—old nerds are getting in on the act as well.

Neetzan Zimmerman · 04/19/12 08:50AMHow America's Next Top Model Is Like Game of Thrones
Rich Juzwiak · 04/19/12 08:43AMWatching America's Next Top Model (now in its 18th cycle) is like visiting a dying friend that I don't even like that much anymore. ("Your wheezing is giving me a headache.") The show's ratings are down, and watching it last night, it was easy to see why: In obsessing over and reiterating its own nonsense jargon, ANTM has become inaccessible to anyone who might casually drop by and excruciatingly irritating to anyone still tuning in. By frequently calling upon terms no one would ever use outside the show like "smize," "tooch" and "fiercely real," this show has painted itself into a wall. What was once a joke is now an inside joke.
