Here Is a Man Who Has Romantic Relationships with Balloons

Rich Juzwiak · 08/27/12 08:45AM

Twenty-seven-year-old Dave, who lives near Little Rock, Arkansas, is a dedicated "looner." That doesn't mean he's crazy (although he might be that, too — judge for yourself) — "looner" describes a person who has romantic relationships with balloons. Dave blows them up, but he will have you know that he isn't blowing them, per se: "I am pure in my life," he explains regarding the suggestion that he may be doing "something else" with his beloved blimps. His lack of sexual passion is a little bit disappointing as I kind of wanted to get to the bottom of all those Xtube balloon videos I'm too scared/otherwise occupied to click on, but Dave makes up for all of this in this segment from last night's Taboo by saying off-the-wall stuff like, "When you think about it in a real, true love sense, it really isn't a toy." He also describes his "balloon rescues," and mourns a popped one. He's really extreme, as only a man who is having polyamorous relationships with rubber bladders can be.

Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann Address Same Crowd, Say Predictably Stupid Things

Taylor Berman · 08/26/12 11:20PM

Former pizza slinger and (allegedly) prolific sexual harasser Herman Cain spoke at an event in Tampa tonight. The New York Times described the event as an "an alternate unity rally in a church made up mostly of Tea Party supporters," which sounds both fascinating and horrific. Cain's speech to the "several hundred" - how far you've fallen, Herman – people in attendance was about what you'd expect. The highlights:

Disgraced Former South Carolina Governor Engaged to Ex-Mistress, Proves True Love Is Real

Taylor Berman · 08/26/12 08:16PM

Remember Mark Sanford? He was the South Carolina governor who disappeared for five days a few years back to go have sex with his Argentine mistress in Buenos Aires but told campaign aides that he was on the Appalachian Trial, doing whatever it is people do when they're on the Appalachian Trail. Anyway, it turns out Sanford was right to abandon his state and wife and family to go have sex in Buenos Aires because now he and the mistress, TV reporter Maria Belen Chapur, are getting married. As CNN reports:

Two Pussy Riot Members Flee Russia

Taylor Berman · 08/26/12 07:30PM

Two members of the Russian punk collective Pussy Riot have fled Russia in order to avoid prosecution for an anti-Putin protest. The other three Pussy Riot members who participated in the protest - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich - were recently sentenced to two years in jail for "hooliganism." According to Tolokonnikova's husband, Pyotr Verzilov, the two women are safe from Russian authorities.

New Orleans Prepares For Hurricane Strike On Seventh Anniversary of Katrina

Taylor Berman · 08/26/12 06:16PM

New Orleans is preparing to be hit by another massive storm, which, if projections hold, will make landfall exactly seven years to the day after Hurricane Katrina. Projections for Tropical Strom Issac, which is expected to grow into at least a Category 2 hurricane, show the storm making direct landfall in the gulf coast early Wednesday morning. Earlier today, both Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu declared states of emergencies.

Nobody panic, but Rihanna and Rob Kardashian are hanging out now.
