Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Still Talking About Being a Bad, Bad Man

Louis Peitzman · 10/01/12 10:19PM

Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the middle of his "I Got the Maid Pregnant and Wrote a Book About It" press tour, during which he's been candid with interviewers about his inner turmoil. (Yes, when your wife starts asking about your illegitimate son, things get rocky.)

This is a 10-hour video of Lana Del Rey singing about her vagina on a loop.

Over 47 Percent of Voters Think Media Over-Covered Mitt Romney's '47 Percent' Remarks

Neetzan Zimmerman · 10/01/12 05:50PM

Following the release of secretly recorded footage from a $50,000-a-plate Mitt Romney fundraiser, in which the GOP's presidential nominee can be heard blasting 47 percent of all voters for believing "they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it," subsequent media coverage may have given a casual observer the impression that Romney had all but forfeited the race.

Guy Shoots Czech President With Pellet Gun, Walks Away, Gives TV Interview

Adrian Chen · 10/01/12 05:27PM

The Czechs take their presidential security a bit less seriously than we do in the U.S. Above is a video of some dude just walking up to Czech President Vaclav Klaus at a public event this past Friday and shooting in the arm a half-dozen times with a toy gun. What's more, Klaus' security entourage let him walk away, arresting him only after he gave an interview about why he shot the president.

Saudi Arabia's Alternative to Photoshopping Women Out of Ads: Scribbling All Over Cleavage

Cord Jefferson · 10/01/12 05:20PM

The Swedish Metro newspaper reported today that expendable furniture behemoth Ikea had Photoshopped its Saudi Arabian catalogues to completely exclude women from the pages. Scenes that included a mother, a father, and a child in other catalogues, for instance, had been touched up to be just a father and a kid. Other settings eliminated people altogether rather than include a woman in the image. Naturally, many people were furious about the perceived misogyny, especially when Ikea, through its charitable donations, attempts to put on a very pro-woman stance.

A List of the Things Whiny Rich People Have Compared Themselves (and Obama) To

Max Read · 10/01/12 05:00PM

Maybe the most exciting story of the last few years is the increasingly prominent voice of a traditionally powerless and voiceless group: the super-rich. No longer content to stand by the wayside as the president begs them to contribute a slightly higher percentage of their massive incomes while they enjoy record-breaking profits, the super-rich have finally stood up to the middle-class and, with the typically astute metaphorical skill of the Wall Street billionaire, compared themselves to violently oppressed and abused people. And piñatas.

Ex-Gay Therapist Wants to Sue California for Reparative Therapy Ban

Kate Bennert · 10/01/12 04:35PM

Noted homophobe and ex-gay who "was never gay-identified" David Pickup made an appearance on CNN this afternoon to mansplain to everyone that reparative therapy—designed to "cure" gays of their homosexuality—is still valid because it totally "worked" on him. Pickup (his real name, by the way) is the newest spokesman for National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) after their previous leader George Rekers was caught vacationing with male prostitutes.

Here Are The Craziest Moments from Lou Dobbs' 25–Year Too Late 'Piss Christ' Discussion

Robert Kessler · 10/01/12 04:03PM

Last night on "Lou Dobbs Tonight" an entire segment was dedicated to the 1987 photograph taken by Andres Serrano of a crucifix submerged in his own piss, otherwise known as "Piss Christ." Dobbs invited former Komen VP Karen Handel and Catholic League President Bill Donahue along for the ride. Handel and Donahue, who are clearly not art critics, proceeded to list the reasons they do not like "Piss Christ" and the whole thing climaxed when Donahue revealed his "opus."

Today's Song: Death Grips "Lock Your Doors"

Rich Juzwiak · 10/01/12 03:50PM

Today's bit of Internet musical theater came courtesy of Sacramento's Death Grips, the electrocore/hip-hop hybridists who weirdly signed to Epic based on their caustic-as-fuck, not-at-all-commercial 2011 mixtape Exmilitary. It seemed a bizarre match at the time and, surprise, surprise, it turned into turmoil today when the group leaked its new album NO LOVE DEEP WEB not only without its label's permission, but before its label had even heard it.

Yes, Mitt Romney Is Getting a Raw Deal From the Press

John Cook · 10/01/12 03:35PM

First off—there is no such thing as "the media." The people and entities who shape our political coverage represent a fractured, disaggregated, chaotic mass of divergent agendas and interests. While they often display pack behavior, they do not operate as a coordinated monolith. But that doesn't mean they're being fair to Mitt Romney. They're not.
