Officials from the Singita Game Reserve at Kruger National Park in South Africa say it was their field guide who was caught on camera charging at an elephant while apparently under the influence of alcohol.

The incident has sparked global outrage since footage first appeared online last week.

Latest Sightings — a website affiliated with Kruger National Park — uploaded the video to its YouTube account over the weekend calling the guide's actions "an absolute disgrace."

The Singita group has since released a statement saying an investigation has resulted in the termination of the employee in question, and "further disciplinary procedures are in progress with regard to others involved."

The statement continued: "We cannot stress enough that the behaviour displayed in this video completely contradicts Singita’s guiding ethos and values toward conservation and wildlife preservation."
