Donald Trump Deftly Evades Question About Whether He's Dated a Woman Who's Had an Abortion
Donald Trump’s abortion policy, like his hair, is a confusing mess of ever-changing threads, all of which are at odds with one another.
After saying this week that women who get abortions in the U.S. should face “some form of punishment,” Trump backtracked, saying that the laws should not be changed to outlaw abortions—a statement which his press officer immediately contradicted. The only thing that’s clear is that Trump’s views on abortion are not clear.
For a Sunday column in The New York Times, Maureen Dowd had an interesting question for the Republican presidential frontrunner: had he, over the course of his storied, swinging youth, ever involved with the type of woman whom he suggests now punishing. Trump’s answer is about as suggestive as it could be:
When he was a swinging bachelor in Manhattan, was he ever involved with anyone who had an abortion?
“Such an interesting question,” he said. “So what’s your next question?”
Such an interesting answer!
