Is a TV Falling Onto Your Child Right Now?
Is your child going to be killed by a falling TV? Have you even thought about it? Probably not, because what do you even care? You never loved me, and you're not my real mom anyhow. The point here is, the next falling TV may land on top of your child.
An update from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shows 29 people, mostly children, were killed by falling TVs in the USA in 2011 alone, making it one of the worst years on record for such tragedies. And 18,000 people a year, mostly children, are treated for injuries from falling TVs, the commission says.
In other words, if you lived in a town of 18,000 people, and you were the only town in America allowed to have TVs, everyone in town would be struck by a falling TV at some point during the year. Is that what you want for your children? I don't think so. So please, enclose your TV in a locked steel cage that is secured to the wall by sturdy bolts. Or, better yet, just toss your TV right out the window.
