Holiday downer time! A couple in their 70s had their vacation cut short when the wife died in the car, somewhere around Pasco, Washington. The husband made the decision to turn the vehicle around and drive back home to attend to his wife's burial. But home was 225 miles north, across the Canada-U.S. border, in Oliver, B.C.

As the man approached the border, he became concerned that he may have trouble transporting his wife's dead body across it and into Canada.

From The Wenatchee World report:

The man called the vehicle emergency system, OnStar, outside of Tonasket, about 20 miles south of Canada, he said.

The man was asking to be put in touch with authorities at the border, said Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers, whose dispatchers received the call at about 2:15 p.m.

The dispatcher convinced him to stop at the local police station, and his wife's body was transported to the North Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
