You've probably wondered what happened to Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt from The Hills, haven't you? Well, The Daily Beast caught up with the two, who are now broke and living at Spencer's parents' house in Santa Barbara. Theirs is a sad, cautionary tale of two kids who get filthy rich for no real reason, act like complete assholes on television, and then regret everything when the money dries up.

You should feel sorry for Spencer Pratt. He once felt compelled to buy a monster truck just so he could drive it onto the set of The Hills because that's how you roll when you're a reality TV star. He had to buy a million dollar-plus wardrobe, too. And, when people stopped paying attention to the pair (who never actually broke up), he wised up. Deep thoughts, by Spencer Pratt:

"We were living each other's mistakes—everything we were doing, in retrospect, was a mistake. The second we continued on our quest for fame was a mistake." Spencer said. "This isn't a business. That was the big thing I didn't get: Reality TV is not a career. Anyone who says, ‘Oh, you can have a career in reality'—that is a lie."

He goes on to say that if producers from Jersey Shore called him up, "I'd say, ‘Get me on a plane to Italy.'" And now that he's hated even more than he was at the height of his fame, Spencer is constantly being humiliated everywhere he goes thanks to the Twitter: "The new thing is to take a picture of someone just to tweet it—even if they hate me. Like, ‘Look at this idiot I just saw.'"
