Groupon was finished with receding political footnote Donald Trump, and so the online coupon site pulled its advertising from The Apprentice website a few days ago. By yesterday, though, the two were back in bed together thanks to a coupon.

A few days ago, Groupon announced it would pull its remnant network advertising from The Apprentice pages of NBC.com in response to user complaints. "It's the same reason we don't run deals on guns or abortion," Groupon said. "This isn't a political statement, it's avoiding intentionally upsetting a segment of our customers.

But you can't stay away from The Donald for long, can you? Because within hours Groupon was touting the "luxurious accommodations" at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Groupon told the New York Post the coupon was lined up well in advance and ran in a "bizarre" coincidence. "We aren't taking a stance either way" is the official line. Translation: If Donald Trump's bullshit doesn't get to you, his money probably will.
