Cindy McCain caused a stir by denouncing Don't Ask Don't Tell in a spot for a pro-gay marriage organization even as her husband blocks any attempt to repeal the law. But wait! She actually supports John's position?

Here's the anti-gay bullying PSA by the NOH8 campaign, which seeks to legalize gay marriage and fight discrimination. Cindy McCain, whom we salute for her past and present support of gay rights, says:

"Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future ... They can't serve our country openly ... Our government treats the LGBT community like second-class citizens, why shouldn't [the bullies]?"

Ouch! Take that John McCain, husband of Cindy McCain! Except yesterday, Cindy tweeted a complete 180:

I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband's stance on DADT.

Obviously the creators of the NOH8 ad engaged in deceptive editing here. Cindy McCain's full quote in the ad was: "They can't serve our country openly, which is totally cool with me. All thanks to John McCain, the president of my heart. God Bless DADT." [via Daily Intel]
