Joe Scarborough really hates House minority leader John Boehner. At least that's what came across on today's edition of Morning Joe, when he relentlessly pushed a Politico reporter into confirming his suspicion that Boehner is Washington's laziest barfly.

Politico, coincidentally, was quick to write up an article about its own appearance on Morning Joe.

"I hear it on the Hill," Scarborough said. "I'm sure you hear it on the Hill all the time. It's not reported. But so many Republicans tell me this is a guy that is not the hardest worker in the world. After 5 o'clock, 6 clock at night, he's disengaged at best. And you can see him around town. He does not have, let's say, the work hours of Newt Gingrich."

"Nobody's talking about it," Scarborough continued. "Every Republican I talk to says John Boehner, by 5 or 6 o'clock at night, you can see him at bars. He is not a hard worker."

Well, as Politico notes, Boehner did play a big role in shaping the Republican House takeover of 1994 that brought Scarborough to Congress. Perhaps Scarborough hates Boehner for bringing him into that terrible chamber and delaying his lucrative career on television, as a morning babbler.

In Boehner's defense, there's not much work for him to do right now. Some aide gives him the latest Democratic proposal, he scans a few topic sentences, and then he just orders another aide to fill out the standard press release template calling something anti-American and communist. Then it's off to the real job: raising money from the fancy lobbyists and common ginbeards at Washington's many fine alcohol establishments.

Minority leaders have it made.
