A controversial new book by a Harvard-educated lawyer weighs in on American society's most hotly debated sociological quandary: Should black ladies date people who are not black? The year now is 1955. Oh, it's not?

That is funny because the fact that we are debating this topic had made it seem as if we were all collectively living in the year 1955! It is easy to get confused sometimes.

"Black women are in market failure," says writer Karyn Langhorne Folan. "The solution is to find a new market for your commodity. And in this case, we are the commodity and the new market is men of other races."

Romantic, right? In her book which is actually titled Don't Bring Home a White Boy: And Other Notions That Keep Black Women From Dating Out, Folan says that since there are not enough eligible black men to go around, black women should consider dating men who are not black. This is in contrast to the alternate view that black women should only date men who are black.

Or everyone could just date whoever the fuck they want.

Keep on trying, America.
