The misery of Liza Minnelli stretches into yet another agonizing day. Paparazzi caught up with the living legend in West Hollywood (where else?) on Monday night, and a cameraman asked her what she thought about Ellen DeGeneres' Oscars joke at Liza's expense. ("Hello to the best Liza Minnelli impersonator I've ever seen," DeGeneres said from the stage to Minnelli in the audience during the opening monologue. "Good job, sir." The internet being the internet wondered if this was transphobic.)

"I think she thought it would be funny," said Liza diplomatically to the pap in a video posted on TMZ. "But she never stopped after she said it and said, 'My friend Liza Minnelli.' So I think it went a bit astray on her. I don't think she meant any harm at all and she's a wonderful lady."

Liza said this in her normal delivery, equal parts warm and bubbly. Her eyes told a different story: "(We are still friends, right?)"

And then, speaking of people maybe not liking Liza, the pap brought up Ellen's A-listers photo stunt that Liza was boxed out of, despite her desperate, heartbreaking reach. "All the men just pushed me away, and it made me laugh so hard," Liza giggled at the pap while crying on the inside.

Then she had trouble walking over a curb.

Then she revealed that she didn't get a piece of pizza when they were handed out to the Oscars audience. Don't cry at the unfairness, though, it's because she's on a diet (so that more people like her).

Never forget when Liza reached out to Lupita Nyong'o as Nyong'o made her way to the stage to accept her Best Supporting Actress trophy, desperate for human contact and giving Nyong'o a terrible fright in the process:

Here is another picture of Liza being Liza:

The pap did not ask Liza about her apparent love of free-boobing, because that would have been disrespectful.
