Woman Sexually Assaulted After Mistaking Assailant's Car for an Uber
Cops say a woman waiting for an Uber ride in D.C. this weekend was sexually assaulted after she mistakenly got into a stranger’s car instead.
Although the app provides a description of the car, the license plate and a photograph of the driver, the woman isn’t the first to blindly jump into a stranger’s vehicle. But this time, cops say, it ended very badly.
The victim was reportedly waiting for a car to pick her up around 3:30 a.m. when the assault occurred in Cleveland Park—a few blocks away from Sidwell Friends, the high school attended by Sasha and Malia Obama.
The details via the Washington Post:
They said the woman got into a silver-colored sedan that she mistook for an Uber vehicle.
After she got into the car, the driver drew a knife and assaulted her, the police said. They said she escaped without further injury.
The driver is reportedly believed to be a Middle Eastern male in his early thirties with black curly hair.
