Prepare yourself for a dramatic This Canadian Life episode about a woman missing for over five decades, who was just found alive in Yukon.

Lucy Ann Johnson disappeared, leaving her family in British Columbia, in September 1961. She was last seen by a neighbor on the 10300 block of 145A Street in Surrey, B.C. Oddly, Lucy Johnson's husband Marvin did not report that his wife was missing until four years later, which made him a suspect with the police. The police searched his property, but didn't discover any evidence. Marvin Johnson died in the late 1990s.

In June 2013, Lucy Johnson was featured by the Surrey RCMP, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as part of their "Missing of the month" series, which the RCMP just revived. They highlighted Johnson as one of their oldest missing persons cases. Johnson's daughter Linda also placed ads in a newspaper in northern British Columbia.

Cpl. Bert Paquet, spokesman for the Surrey RCMP, said:

"We received a phone call from a woman in the Yukon who called and claimed that she had seen the picture of the missing person in the free newspapers and said the missing person we were looking for was actually her mother. The stars aligned, the timing was perfect."

The 77-year-old woman was living in Yukon with another family. Linda, the daughter that was searching for her mother for over 50 years, "connected with a stepsister who she did not know she had at the time."

The family has requested privacy as they make reunion plans, as this situation has been emotional for everyone involved.
