Ida Parker and Kristin Orr were kayaking and taking pictures of seals off Plymouth, Mass., last night when a shark bit one of their boats, sending them both tumbling into the water. Both women escaped without injuries.

Judging by the radius of the bite mark and tooth fragments left on the kayak, officials believe the shark was a great white, the Boston Globe reports.

Parker described the terrifying experience to local news outlet WCVB:

"I looked back at her and it came directly out of the water, underneath the boat, launched her backwards and flipped me over," Parker said.

"It was dark gray, pointy nose, big teeth, big eyes," Parker said. "It was like, right next to me. It was petrifying."

Orr and Parker swam away unscathed and were eventually rescued by the Plymouth harbormaster.

Earlier in the day, another beachgoer reported seeing a shark eat a seal. Authorities began a Jaws-style search for the beast this morning, and are advising people to avoid swimming and boating in the waters off Plymouth, the Globe reports.

Parker and Orr told WCVB they have reservations about kayaking after the attack:

"I don't think I'll ever kayak again," Orr said.

"I might," Parker joked. "Probably not anytime soon."
