Trump Will Negotiate Directly With the Networks on Debate Format, Room Temperature
As Republicans continue to debate how they’re going to debate, one candidate has rejected the notion of collective bargaining, opting instead to negotiate directly with the networks he isn’t already feuding with. It’s Donald Trump, obviously.
According to reports, Trump’s advisors attended this weekend’s summit, saw the proposed demand letter and thought, “Nah.”
The Washington Post elaborates:
While two of Trump’s senior aides attended the Sunday meeting, they were far from ready to sign a letter, and they left the session unconvinced that a group push on the debates would be helpful to protecting Trump’s front-runner status or providing him with the most possible air time on primetime stages, the Republicans added.
According to the Post, Trump’s decision to negotiate on his own “effectively throttles” the Republican effort to wrest control of the thermostat and graphics away from the networks.
