Taking reporters’ questions after an appearance at Trump National Doral, in Doral, Florida, Donald Trump delivered some of his most unhinged proclamations of an already unhinged campaign.

Trump denied the veracity of allegations that the Kremlin directed Russian intelligence agencies to hack the Democratic National Conventions’ emails in order to benefit his campaign. Then, he said he hoped that such hackers would find Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.

“Trump has just publicly called on Russia to cyber-invade the United States to help get him elected,” the New Yorker’s Philip Gourevitch tweeted. “Talk about high crimes & misdemeanors.”

In an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday morning, former National Review editor George Will speculated that his so far unreleased tax returns could reveal the nature of Trump’s relationship with Russia. “Perhaps one more reason why we’re not seeing his tax returns — because he is deeply involved in dealing with Russian oligarchs and others,” Will said. “Whether that’s good, bad or indifferent, it’s probably the reasonable surmise.”

Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort reiterated the candidate’s commitment to not releasing his returns. “Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them,” Manafort told CBS. “It has nothing to do with Russia, it has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing process.”
