"Totally Urbanized" Dog Takes Bus to the Park All by Herself
A Seattle dog, sick of waiting around for her owner, has learned to ride public transit by herself. Eclipse the black lab knows how to catch the D Line by her apartment, ride for 3 or stops, and hop off at a dog park near Downtown.
Bus drivers and regular passengers have gotten used to the dog, who sits in her seat "like a person" and looks out the window to make sure she doesn't miss her stop.
Eclipse's owner, Jeff Young, says he was finishing a cigarette when the bus arrived one day, but Eclipse didn't feel like waiting. She just climbed aboard without him, and he met up with her at the park later on.
"She's been here the last two years, so she's been urbanized, totally. She's a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog," he said. "Probably once a week I get a phone call. 'Hi. I have your dog Eclipse here on 3rd and Bell,'" he told KOMO 4. "I have to tell them, 'no. She's fine.' She knows what she's doing."
