Tragedy Strikes Canada as Giant Wine Spill Shuts Down Major Highway
A collision between two trucks—one of which was carrying thousands of bottles of wine—shutdown a major Canadian highway on Wednesday for more than 10 hours. Every one of the bottles from the wine truck reportedly shattered on impact.
The wine truck's 30-year-old driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and drove through Highway 1's median, crossing into on-coming traffic where he collided with a truck carrying pulp, according to the Vancouver Sun.
Miraculously, neither driver was injured. The wine, as you can see, was not so lucky.
"Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, with one semi's trailer ripped apart by the force of the collision," Cpl. Robert McDonald told CTV News. "And of course there was significant damage to the cargo,' he added.
