This Kid's Move With a Foul Ball Was Even Smoother Than It Looked
A 10-year-old who caught a foul ball at Friday's game between Toronto and Texas looked great in front of the cameras when he offered it to the attractive 20-something ladies sitting behind him. Smooth, little Casanova. Very smooth.
But watch closely, because there's sleight of hand at work here. Young Austin Chaney already had a ball in his glove when he caught the game ball, and he quickly switched the two before giving one away.
The announcers caught him, and they thought it was the greatest thing ever. So did his little league teammates, who now call him "Hollywood."
Austin told WFAA-TV that the second ball was one of a few that the Rangers' third base coach had tossed to him and a friend earlier in the game.
"I was told if I got another ball, I should give it to someone else, so I turned around... I thought I was going to give it to someone deep down there, and I saw her right in front of me and I gave it to her," he said.
As for the jokes about his prowess with the ladies, his mother is downplaying them. "If they only knew him. He trips over the wind blowing!"
Thanks, mom.
