Earlier today, a 29-year-old man jumped into New York Harbor and attempted to swim to Liberty Island, because he believed God wanted him to do that. Luckily, he survived.

A 30-year-old New Jersey man, Jijo Puthuvamkunnath, was killed yesterday near the Statue of Liberty when his 17-foot boat was hit by a larger boat, "Reel Impulsive," that was allegedly piloted by a drunk man. Puthuvamkunnath was with his fiancé.

Today is turning out to be very maritime oriented: A humpback whale has been spotted swimming under the Verrazano Bridge in the New York Harbor. This is kinda cool, and also kinda worrying.
